ABOUT BEYOND BOOKKEEPING

Cindy Henderson Magner founded Beyond Bookkeeping in May 2005 after completing her Masters in Business Administration coursework at SFSU. Cindy holds a Bachelors Degree from Columbia University in the City of New York. After several years working in non-profit economic development, Cindy’s entrepreneurial drive sent her to business school with a goal of finding a way to drive US job development through micro-enterprise creation and growth. Her research into why US small businesses fail and what limits growth led her to bookkeeping services. Often a lack of financial controls and an inability to read and understand financial statements causes small business owners and entrepreneurs to fail.

Beyond Bookkeeping, Inc. now serves nearly 40 growing small businesses across the US and continues to grow. We are a San Francisco based firm currently operating out of the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego Area, and Phoenix Area. We hope to continue to share our efficiencies and experience with many more small businesses throughout the nation. Our approach identifies where financial controls are needed, implements systems, produces timely and accurate reports, and reviews those reports with business owners regularly. We have transferable experience in wholesale, manufacturing, retail, service, and non-profit industries.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs are experts at what they make or sell but they don’t necessarily know how to set up or run a business. An acupuncturist knows her trade but doesn’t necessarily know about marketing, finance, accounting, or hiring when she first sets out with her own practice. She may not even know what she needs to do to set up a business checking account.

A group of programmers may have a brilliant technology solution and they may even have raised a few million dollars but they don’t know how to create board reports.

These clients need a bookkeeper who goes beyond entering bills, cutting checks, and making collection calls.
